Motorway driving was sheer pleasure this week as the Promise Dreams team took a Welcome Break at the Hilton Park Services operated by Moto, on the M6 between junctions J10A-11 in Staffordshire.
We have been highlighting the wonderful work that the friends and supporters of Promise Dreams undertake to help children and families that are going through troubled times. So … it’s time to take a bow ‘Moto in the Community Trust!’
Steve Bull and the team travelled over to meet General Manager Mat Embleton and many of his busy staff to hear what they had been doing. As Mat explained, ‘We want to make a difference to communities around the UK. We focus our attention on the local communities around Moto’s 57 locations, and also partner each year with a national charity in order to help make a difference to a wider community audience. This year it has been a pleasure to raise money for Promise Dreams and the lovely little girl we are able to help through our support.’
Fundraising has consisted of a gift stall in the retail atrium of the services, a tombola, raffles, lucky dips, face painting and celebrity appearances from Disney characters, the ‘Help for Heroes’ Hero Bear and of course, our very own Steve Bull MBE.
In fact Steve was on hand to collect the generous cheque of £2,000 from Mat and Burger King’s Restaurant Manager Sally Joseph. Bully was beaming with admiration for this great group of charitably minded friends of Promise Dreams, ‘Mat and Sally have done a tremendous job along with all the staff and customers at Hilton Park. We really appreciate it; and none more so than Iman who is 8 years old and living with a complicated medical condition which means that she requires a huge amount of care & support. She is fed through a gastrostomy tube overnight to ensure that she gets as much nutrition as possible and remains as healthy as possible. Iman does not let her condition get her down and is a very sociable young lady who brings a huge amount of joy to her friends and family. She is always talking about Disney characters and would just love to see them all.’
Her family are keen to take her to Walt Disney World in Florida as the sunshine will provide a much-needed boost to her health, and with the help from ‘Moto in the Community Trust’ we can make this dream reality for Iman and her family – helping to create precious memories for them all that will provide strength in their times of need.
‘She is such a brave little girl and this cheque from ‘Moto in the Community Trust’ will help to enable her to enjoy all the wonder and excitement of Disney,’ said Bully.
Paula Jones, Corporate Fundraiser for Promise Dreams also said, ‘We are delighted that Moto and all the great people at Hilton Park have taken our charity to heart and we are so grateful that they are helping to promote Promise Dreams to people visiting the services from outside of the area.’
A big heart-felt Promise Dreams thank you to Mat, Sally and everyone at ‘Moto in the Community Trust’ for their care, compassion and commitment to the community.
About Moto …
The Moto in the Community Trust was launched in 2005 as a grant-making charity supporting various local groups and national charities by raising money at Moto locations nationwide. Funds raised by the charity are then distributed back into communities through grants. Moto people also offer their time and skills by volunteering within their communities and building strong links with local charities and community groups.
