Hannah is a 14 year old girl who is living with a condition called Niemann-Pick type C. This is a rare, inherited, metabolic disease leads to progressive loss of motor skills, difficulty in walking, slurred speech and Epileptic seizures. Hannah was diagnosed with this condition at 4 ½ years old and sadly there is no treatment, leaving her family helpless as she loses her skills and requires more and more care & support.
Hannah suffers with the loss of voluntary muscle control, reduced communication and she tires very easily. She needs support to sit and is dependant on her carers for all transfers and mobility.
Hannah is a quiet young lady with an incredible sense of humour and although she is unable to talk, she understands everything. Hannah uses ‘eye points’ to communicate and often frowns if something is not right. She enjoys trips out and is a real ‘people watcher’.
It was Hannah’s dream to have a ‘P’ Pod Beanbag – this is a flexible and supportive postural beanbag with a moulded insert, which offers a comfortable and adapted seating option for her to be able to relax with her family in a comfortable manner.
Thankfully Hannah now has her beanbag and can enjoy time with her family.
