Dixie was 7 years old when her family applied to Promise Dreams. She was born with congenital Retts Syndrome, which means she is unable to walk or talk. She is unable to eat safely so she has a gastrostomy button. She has epilepsy, scoliosis and cannot use her hands. She also gets regular water infections, digestion problems and is also partially sighted.
However even with this host of challenges she is a happy, smiley little girl – her mother says “On paper Dixie sounds like she cant do anything, but she brings such amazing joy to the whole family, when you feel low she makes you happy. She loves kisses, cuddles, music and dancing (we dance around her)”.
Dixie needed a new specialised wheelchair as she had grown out of her old one. Having this chair means that she can continue to take part in many family activities, – going to the beach, walking in the countryside – activities that she loves and make family time together special.
In the photo above you can see the radiant smile on her face which says it all!
